Irene Schechter, a brush and ink artist, received her academic training in graphic arts and calligraphy. She studied Chinese painting with Hoi Csu Chan and Qi Gu Jiang in Chicago. Irene holds a 4th degree rank from the Kampo School of Calligraphy in Kyoto, Japan.

Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally at the juried Asian Brush Painting Exhibition in Taiwan and Japan sponsored by the Federation of American Asian Culture and Art. She is a member of the Sumi-e Society of America. Irene has found invaluable guidance and inspiration in Ning Yeh's tapes and books.
