OAS added Cicada Shuen to its line of fineline [sized] papers because of the well deserved reputation it enjoys among master fineline artists.
Cicada Shuen is more transparent and delicate than Shimmer Shuen and has a creamier antique look to it. The transparency has been compared to 25# tracing paper by Western graphic artists. Some sheets may have remnants of tree material. The paper is extremely thin and delicate to the touch. Like silk, mishandling of the paper may create wrinkles and creases.
This paper's name is derivative of the way that its appearance mimics the wing of the insect cicada that is symbolic in the Chinese culture.
A popular choice among Gong-bi (fineline artists).
